Electromagnetic Waves and Optical Physics

PHGN 462 Spring 2024 · Colorado School of Mines · Teaching Assistant
electromagnetismopticswaves

The course

PHGN 462 develops the wave description of light from solutions of the electromagnetic wave equation: plane and guided waves, refraction, interference, diffraction, and polarization, with applications in imaging, lasers, optical resonators, and waveguides. It is the upper-division optics course in the Engineering Physics curriculum and builds on intermediate electromagnetism.

My role

I TA’d PHGN 462 over two semesters in 2023–2024; besides review sessions and office hours, I gave supplemental lectures on the wave-optics material.
